The Dye Wash does not act as a method of reverting the current dye color to the previous dye color. What the wash does is restore the color back to the "factory" default, if you will (the color the item was originally designed with). The base texture is sort of ugly undyed. So players never see it undyed, it's always given a dye color of some sort. If the armor is sort of lower-quality in appearance, like rusty chainmail, the base dye color is meant to just look pretty nondescript. If it's high-level stuff, like the PvMP armor, its base dye color is usually a vivid color. Dye colors are never blended: if we put purple in as a base dye color, then that color is removed, and entirely replaced, with a different dye color, when players dye it. Now when players dye-wash that armor, it goes back to its base purple.

The dye wash will remove player dyes from armor, and take it back to this base color. On some armors, it has the appearance of having removed color, but on other armors, it has the appearance of taking it to some arbitrary color. Given that loot can itself be dyed randomly, the armor may be taken back to a color you haven't seen it with before.

If you're saying you have an item that was white, got dyed, and dye wash takes it back to some other color, please PM me with the item name and a screenshot of the way it looks now, and I will have a look.

For randomly dyed items, its color is indicated in the tooltip, which should make getting the correct dye not too much of a problem.

There are relatively few items in-game that have a very distinct base color. There are some elven armor sets that do, which was a way to get some elf-specific palette colors into the armor. But mostly, there aren't many items where you should be seeing this problem.

March 13th, Book 12 Patch 1 Notes!

As some of us have noticed there is a search problem in Auction House. Items posted before the patch are still listed when a specific search is made, but items posted post-patch will no longer show up on any specific searches! Look like its a bug on EU servers, it doesn't appear on US servers.

We're aware of the issues with the Auction House. It seems you are still able to find items but not through the search function. For now, to find an item you will have to use the navigation (a pain I know!) Roll on old fashioned trading!

If you want to turn on the lights you can't be in decoration mode. Be close to the candles or whatever you want to light and hover you mouse cursor over it. You should get the circle with the hand in it cursor then just right click.

"We tend to avoid giving players control over light influences. Specifically, to avoid performance issues associated with lighting and also to avoid causing the light budgets for the spaces to blow out (which makes the space look worse, with light sources randomly turning on and off among other visual artifacts). Player-controlled light sources can also be a source of grief-play for the same above reasons".

Equipping an item to an Outfit slot will still leave the item in your inventory, but you can save it at your house vault and log in all your alts and wear the outfits, you don't have to buy outfits for all your alts!!!. This will allow you to trade those items to other players, store them in your bank, etc., although items that bind will need to be bound to you before you can equip them into Outfit slots. The downloadable patch for Book 12 is now available! This patch will update clients from Book 11 to Book 12. New players will still need to go through the normal patching process - this patch will only work for those whose clients are current as of today (February 11). It will not work for Roheryn.

The downloadable patch means you can download it and patch your client before the update goes live on the servers, saving you time when they come back up. It also means you can download the patch on a computer that you don't have LOTRO installed on (i.e. your work computer), transfer the patch to a disk or device, and then run it on the computer with a LOTRO client to update it. After you've updated your client, when the servers go live with Book 12 your client will apply the patch and update itself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You should only use this downloadable patch if your LOTRO client is already patched up to BOOK 11!
This file will ONLY patch the North America/AU/NZ version of the LOTRO client. If you try to apply it to the EU version, you'll get an error message.
